Projects > Centenary Hospital for Women and Children
A dedicated Early Pregnancy Service has opened at Centenary Hospital for Women and Children. This new service is for women and pregnant people with complications relating to early pregnancy. This unit will offer a therapeutic, healing space to receive care. The unit supports overnight stays, provides separate treatment spaces and a waiting area for pregnant people and their families. It also comes with a new model of care.
A brand new Antenatal and Gynaecology Unit has also been built in Centenary Hospital for Women and Children. Located beside the Early Pregnancy Service, it allows stronger integration between the services. The move of the Antenatal and Gynaecology Unit to this new location will allow the opening of a new Postnatal Ward, which will increase postnatal bed capacity at the hospital.
Canberra Health Services worked with clinicians, consumers and carers to design the unit, which is staffed by a multi-skilled team of health professionals.
