Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Setup

The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) is a 130,000 sqm purpose-built facility for cancer research, treatment, education and care in Melbourne’s Parkville Biomedical Precinct. It includes 160 inpatient beds, 110 chemotherapy, 8 theatres, 2 procedure rooms, 27 treatment rooms, 97 consulting rooms and 8 radiation bunkers. The facility includes a world class 42 bed ICU based at the Royal Melbourne Hospital plus the new Peter Mac Centre.

USA Vice President Joseph R Biden Jr, toured the landmark $1 billion VCCC ahead of its official opening. The VCCC is inspired by the USA Comprehensive Cancer Centre model where cutting edge patient services and research come together under one roof. There are 45 Comprehensive Cancer Centres in the USA and the VCCC is the first in Australia.

As Premier Daniel Andrews said at the opening: “Today’s historic VCCC opening is a momentous step forward in the fight against cancer. In this iconic, state-of-the-art building, the best and brightest medical minds will work side-by-side to fast-track future cancer breakthroughs and deliver first class care and treatment to patients.”

Dalcross provided a large number of custom seating solutions in all of the inpatient and chemotherapy areas. We feel privileged to have had a part in this project and being part of this monumental step forward in cancer care.
